This past Christmas our beloved Mama Jan bought our family a membership to the Museum of Life and Science. This truly was a gift that keeps on giving. The Museum of Life and Science (NCMLS) is about 20 minutes from our home and is great for rainy days, cold days or grumpy kid days. The museum has a plethora of indoor and outdoor activities. We visited today and it's so much fun to see Jessie and Jackson enjoying each others company and learning new things. The favorite activity for all today was the music room. It's a very cool room that is large enough for a 4 year old to run laps in. The room is divided into different quadrants and every movement of your body is met with a brilliant, loud, musical collage. I even enjoyed spinning and waving my arms in this room.
Jack said his other favorite activity was the "cool space stuff" and the gift shop where he scored a solar system mobile which we still have to hang in his room tonight. Jessie really enjoyed the indoor animals, in particular the very large owl. She couldn't take her eyes off that thing....perhaps she knew that all 26 pounds of her might appear as a large snack to the owl. Eek.
I really hope to send Jack to one of the museum camps this summer. The camps are a bit on the pricey side, but I've heard they are all wonderful.
Thanks again Mama Jan for a great gift!
Here's a cool video of the Sound Space I mentioned earlier:

Loved your post. My job at the Museum is fundraising and gov't relations, among other things. Your comments helped remind me why we do what we do and who we do it for. Great timing as my first stop tomorrow is to try and keep our state funding steady. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the GREAT work! We absolutely love the museum and anticipate many years of continued support and visits! Oh...and thanks for my first comment!!
